As far as I am concerned socialism is yesterday's doctrine that has by now been in retreat for so long that it cannot be taken seriously.
Socialism is the expression of our concern for people's well being. How can it be "yesterday's doctrine"?... It's like saying that environment protection is "yesterday's doctrine"...
Christian love and charity is the expression of our concern for people's well being. Over the past century socialism has too frequently manifest in the form of oppressive, sometimes murderously lawless, political power structures - which has brought it into global distribute.

Unfortunately in the Old World about a century ago Christian love and charity seems to have been popularly ditched in favour of socialism; presumably because the former did not offer devotees the opportunity to exercise political power over others.
Christian love and charity are not all that different from socialist solidarity. That's why there is something called "liberation theology" and why most Popes in the 20th century have declared the Church's "option for the poor"... We should stop confusing socialism with some of the methods which some people have chosen to promote its ideals. When you refer to the Catholic Church, do you automatically think of the Inquisition?...

These days when people refer to the Catholic Church they think pedophilia and the Pope's trying to cover it up. What socialist in the US look like today:

You can maybe argue that this does not represent socialists Maybe, maybe not. But it does represent what Socialist states have always evolved into.

But best to be careful least they decide "You are a bad man" YOU ARE A VERY BAD MAN!!"

Do you really believe foc that your country is in danger of going socialist soon? With all due respects I find the notion laughable.

No, I have faith people will wake up to the danger. But remember the Nazis only got 30% of the vote.

True doc; but in a shaky democracy structured unlike that of the USA where a party could gain and use "leverage" well beyond that which its minority voter support would ordinarily have entitled it to.

You mean like using the state security apparatus against the political opposition to gain power?

Or stacking the MSM against the political opposition?

Or suppressing the political opposition on social media?

Or despite significant drops in gun violence demanding that guns RIGHTS be taken away?
