Until shortly ago the US loved Turkey and Saudi Arabia... Well, it looks now as if Putin will gather a sizeable part of Eurasia together into a zone of shared penury.

Do you really believe that a cluster of Eurasian states centered around the Russian Federation are ever going to achieve improved living standards level with the accepted norm in the countries of northwestern Europe?

No alliance based solely on power can ever do any good like that.

I haven't seen any figures, but I would expect that economic cooperation can do no harm.
