Re: MICHAEL BLOOMBERG MAY ACTUALLY RUN FOR PRESIDENT

The more Democrats running the better. Primaries are just a sorting out process. Only one can run for president as his/hers party's endorsed candidate. Gosh! We didn't know that. Thanks for filling us in . . . That was not for your benefit Jim. Rather for somebody who presumes that the more that ru...

Re: How did a nice place like Mexico become a failed state?

Religion is becoming increasingly irrelevant because an increasing number of people see religions as fantasies,... Their loss Sertorio - and yours! ...not because people are becoming more materialistic. In fact, many very materialistic people consider themselves as being very religious... A true an...

My dogs would see Trump's fighting dog as a mercenary and a stooge of capitalism... A disgrace to all dogs... :D

Re: How did a nice place like Mexico become a failed state?

Yes, there has been a mass desertion of Christianity in the West which in its absence leads to an undue focus on worldly ambition. I don't see it that way. I see an increasing number of people concerned with ethical questions, and willing to sacrifice their comfort to further those concerns. Enviro...

Re: How did a nice place like Mexico become a failed state?

The biggest sin is for people to think that they were instructed by God - if He exists - to be God's mouthpieces on Earth, to be the interpreters of God's will or intentions... Would any of you believe that an all-powerful God would need any of us to convey His message? The fact is that the clergy -...

Re: Emasculating Assad's Syria: A Kurdish state within?

Trump is undoubtedly the last President of America who will oppose Islam. Sorry Milo, but as I see it he is not "opposing Islam" as much as playing off one faction against another. By no means will be be the last to do that. Putin is in the same game. Islam is eating its young but the US has commit...

Re: the dismemberment of Syria?

I do not get the impression that morale and fighting spirit are or ever where high among Assad's soldiers. By contrast Islamist jihadi's seek martyrdom. So I regard your point about the rekindling of the civil war from that Turkish held enclave as likely to prove prophetic. The Syrian army has foug...

Re: How did a nice place like Mexico become a failed state?

In all colonial countries governements were not strong enough, or willing enough, to impose on settlers any form of recognition of rights of natives. Bartolomé de las Casas tried in Spain, Antonio Vieira (a Jesuit) tried in Brazil/Portugal, and both failed because of opposition by settlers. Probably...

Re: Two conflicting views on Syria's future.

I have tried to convince Sertorio that Syria has a bleak future but unfortunately Sertorio still insists on riding his favorite hobby horse. Syria's future will only be bleak as long as the US is present in the ME and keep interfering with events there. Let the US withdraw from the ME and Syria's p...
